I found the sessions with Steve Stroh to be amazing. His knowledge and thoroughness were very Normally I am not I took a day off to spend at Spa Uno: left San Jose in the morning, flew to Manuel Antonio, and flew back the next morning. When I got back, I felt I'd been gone about a week: such was the level of relaxation I experienced.
I received a massage from a tica costa rican woman whose diminutive size belied her strong hands. I have to say that I'm big into massage and have had hundreds of massages from a wide variety of therapists. At Spa Uno I had requested a deep tissue massage because often "regular massages" aren't deep enough for me. But when the massage started, I realized that actually this one was going to be too deep and vigorous, so I asked the therapist to slow down and use less pressure.
She was very amenable and soon we were in a very good groove in which I began to shed loads of stress, esp. Many therapists can't sustain the degree of pressure I like on my feet, but this therapist had no difficulty During the massage she misted me at several points with a delightful smelling flower scent Another sensual highlight was when she applied a creme that smelled like almonds I am now using them at home, in fact, the Lavender After Sun Treatment has helped more than anything to make my daughter's chickenpox scars go away.
I also want to mention that part of the good feeling I got at Spa Uno was the harmonious feng shui of the layout, the wonderful music I don't usually like new agey music but whatever they were playing really got to me and the wonderful spa manager Nicole who was quick to attend to my every need, from the frosty glass of juice she handed me upon arrival, to getting me to the airport on time to catch my flight home.
It is an instant relaxed setting. I would highly recommend this spa to anyone. It is very popular!! Spa Uno just gets better and better. A wonderful 'jungle' setting with views into the canopy - you're liable to see monkeys cavorting; a sloth high in a tree; and colorful birds.
