In February , Uganda Empowers started a community school for less advantaged and vulnerable children in Northern Uganda. The little boy, Muzeyi, circled in green, is a school leader and doing well 5 years after receiving that life changing medicine.
The women of Del Taller sewing co-op in Mexico. Where there is hope, there is a future. At-risk women find refuge in Our Lady Guadalupe. They find healing from the terrors of the streets of Mexico City. Many have lost sisters, mothers, daughters, and friends to violence.
These women discover hope through workshops and vocational training. We include their beautiful, handmade baby booties from their sewing co-op, Del Taller, in our exhibit. A touching message from our cooperative in Mexico City! Yesterday we received a very touching message from a Dallas woman who has found a sewing cooperative in Mexico City for us. These women will make the very last baby booties for the exhibit. It is an organization that teaches very low income women crafts to help them make more money to support their families.
