They are dominated by young people who do not even hesitate to show their love in a public transport. Karim is a public transport driver in Manado. Lesbian practices can also be easily observed in public places, such as at Mega Mas, an area with numerous hangout corners.
According to Cici, the lesbians have their own community. The earnings from prostitution is used to fulfil daily needs, including renting a room to stay. According to Cici, the lesbian practice however, is strongly opposed by their parents and families. According to the record kept by the Manado City Police, there have been many women herded in the police station after one of the couple parents reported lesbian practice.
