And does anybody know the cost of MRT to the centre of Singapore. U will of course see some ladies of the night.. Good food in the nights up till the wee hours is found in Geylang area.. Sure it'll be safe for guys. Depending on number of stations, it's usually over a dollar. You'd get a temporary card you can use 6 times. You just need to top up at the machines.
Really easy. It is quite safe. There are no more street walkers as the government have taken efforts to remove illegal prostitution in that area. That being said, that area is still not the most glamorous part of Singapore. You can find street paddlers hawking illegal substances and men both local and foreigners going around to do what they have gone there to do.
To put things into perspective, i will say that, Geylang is one of the worst or if not the worst area to stay in Singapore. The bright Star has got family room for which is convenient. Despite Red Light area we did have good time as Scooby's advice. We didn't mess around too late but we did walk from MRT to the hotel at the late evening after dinner. If you like to feel more secured, simply ride a taxi directly to the hotel gate. For budget travelers, you have to work with your what you have then places like Geylang and little India is where you will stay in Singapore.
Though not the best areas to be in my opinion, it is quite safe and if you take necessary precautions and dont be too flashy, it is quite safe.
