Contact Admin. This may sound ignorant, and i don't want to offend anyone, but I am considering two nights for me and my girlfriend at the W hotel walkerhill as a romantic weekend. I know prostitution and the sex industry is quite sizeable in Korea similar to Las Vegas etc , and I would like to know if this hotel is a romantic environment, not sleezy etc? And unless you know different, Walkerhill is out west on the north side of Hang River, so not remotely near Gangnam. And remote is the word for its disposition.
In 20 years of travelling to Seoul , I've not come across evident hookers anywhere. I'm sure they are available, but you need have no fears on being propositioned or embarrassed. Seoul is not even vaguely like Las Vegas and you can wander freely in Seoul without concerns. If you are accosted it will likely be by students who want to try out English or friendly people - really friendly.
I was walking through a food market last year and a stall holder asked me if I was from US. When I said "England" he dragged me into the next door bar, shouting "England, gentleman, Park Ji Sung", and bought me a drink. You may have good reason for selecting it, and it's fine but very isolated and thrives on business meetings, congresses etc.
My one visit to it gave an impression of minimal Korean atmosphere. If you are free to choose another, the most romantically located hotels are probably Shilla , Grand Hyatt and Banyan Tree. The sheraton walker hill nearby is pretty office like which people might be getting this confused with, i'm drawn to the W at Walkerhill as it's a mix of modernity within a mountainous landscape though i only have this article as a reference point so far timeout.
Not trying to change your mind, but DO take a look at Shilla hotel in Seoul. IMHO, Walker Hill is too remote, not far, but it is in the hills, you must take taxis in and out, you can't just wander on out about to shops or restaurants, it is detached. We have also stayed at Shilla , nice grand hotel, but again, detached from the city, you take shuttle bus or taxis to go anywhere, just not convenient. If you intend to stay at Sheraton chain, my suggestion is to stay at Westin Chosun , right in the middle of busy city, said by many locals to be the best Seoul a Hotel, I agree based on my experience.
