Contact Admin. I may have an opportunity to visit Madrid in October. I would like to try staying in a hostel, but most are called "youth hostels", and they have a reputation of being loud and places where young people like to party all night. I'm 55 years old and would like to find out if there are hostels where older folks could go and get a good nights sleep without all the noise.
If necessary, I will spend the extra money and get a budget-level hotel Also, I know almost nothing about Madrid. Any suggestions on places to stay would be very appreciated. Try to look at the website booking.
These are not the youth hostels you are referring to. The hostals on the other hand can have 2 rooms sharing a bathroom or room with private bathroom.
My suggestion for you if you want something quiet is to stay in malasana or chueca districts, close to the heart of madrid central and away from the noise of puerta del sol, gran via, plaza mayor. As you are from the states i would like to emphasize to you madrid is a very safe city to walk in the night.
You will still see many people at night after 11 at night. Violent crimes are mostly non-existent. But please be alert and watch out for the pickpockets in crowded areas. It is a big city with world class in every category: Two very popular hostales so the privately owned hotels like ptgita is suggesting are Hostal Adriano and Hostal Gonzalo. We an adult couple stayed in the Pension Jaen for 2 nights. The rooms are small, but clean. Be sure to request an ensuite bathroom if you want one, because some rooms share a bathroom.
