Six Asian residents, including four men and two women, stood trial at RAK Criminal Court for allegedly posing as CID officers, locking four women in an apartment, and forcing them into prostitution. They also threatened to abuse and deport the victims unless they agreed to work as paid sex workers, as per court records. Alerted by one of the victims, the Ras Al Khaimah Police arrested the suspects. The sheet of charges showed that the fifth suspect had sex with the sixth suspect out of wedlock, while the third and fourth suspects posed as CID men.
The first, third, fourth and fifth defendants threatened to deport the victims and put them in the black list unless they surrendered to their demands and join the flesh trade.
The suspects were brought to the RAK Public Prosecution which referred them to the RAK Criminal Court where the sixth suspect admitted to having sex with the fifth accused after being forced to by the first suspect. She added that the first suspect took away her money, and threatened to send her home. She said that she has four witnesses who are ready to testify in favour of her statement.
She underlined that she did not run away from the house she was locked in because she was scared of the fourth suspect who threatened to deport her, while the first suspect used to lure and force her into prostitution. The second suspect, as per court records, misled the fourth victim whom he promised to provide with work in a local hotel in Ras Al Khaimah.
But instead, he locked her with the first, second and third victims. The victims spent one month in that hotel. After that, the second suspect asked them to work as prostitutes, but they all refused and expressed their wish to fly home.
