Two Norman sisters are facing prostitution charges after an Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agent in the Human Trafficking Unit responded to an escort advertisement earlier this month. Kia Kalene Campbell, 22, and Ashley Annamarie Campbell, 20, were charged Tuesday with misdemeanor counts of engaging in prostitution.
Agent J. Forney wrote in an affidavit, on Sept. Main St. At p. Her sister, Kia, was hiding in the restroom and she was placed under arrest, as well, records show. Post-arrest and Miranda warning, both women admitted to prostitution, the agent wrote. Ashley was charged with violation of an Oklahoma Statute via computer, while Kia was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
After the arrests were made and the hotel room was secured, agents observed two men approach the room, where the arrest had just been made, and one of the men began knocking on the door, according to an affidavit filed with charges against a Moore man Tuesday. Sigmond Lamar James, 27, was arrested that night and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and obstructing an officer.
The agent wrote in the affidavit that when officers approached the two men and identified themselves as police officers, they took off running. The men ran north from the hotel, crossing Main Street. One crossed over Interstate 35 at a high rate of speed. James gave law enforcement verbal consent to look at his cell phone and agents determined he had placed cell phone calls to the Norman sisters who were arrested.
When OBN agents inventoried the vehicle prior to impound, they located residue from meth in a Ziplock baggie in the cab of the vehicle. James was arrested at p. Friday, about an hour after the sisters, and transported to Cleveland County jail.
