Were looking for a cheap hotel in Da Nang city to stay with my family for a few nights. We arrived late, but still our room was not prepared. We had to wait some minutes, and could watch as one prostitude went in with a guy, chatting shortly with the hotel staff before going on, and another one going down with her john. Actually I talked with some VN friends about it and it is quite common for hotels with low rates to rent their rooms hourly.
Many to couples, but also some to prostitutes and for most of this hotels it is essential. I just can suggest to avoid this hotel, so, if there are no clear and good ratings, hotels with lower rates than k VND. For hotels in tourist areas like Hoi An, Hue it is not so common, but cities like Da Nang, HCMC or also in Hanoi it is much more common, but still I would suggest to avoid 10 USD more to get a place, where the chance that it is really clean is quite much higher.
Yesterday, last night, this morning I had the dismal experience in staying in an overpriced dister of a room. One wall in the bedroom showed signs of water damage with peeling paint. Two lights lacked bulbs. The Reception tried to overcharge and was reluctant to provide a receipt when I paid cash.
